Vinny, this is the best breakdown of UCP I've seen — and it connects

directly to something I've been arguing: e-commerce spent 25 years

optimizing search and filters because there was no salesperson. UCP

doesn't just change discovery, it makes "ask and transact" the default

infrastructure, not a nice-to-have.

The tension I keep coming back to: if agents read structured catalogs

directly, does the on-site conversational layer become redundant — or

does it become the trust layer that verifies what the agent surfaces?

I'd bet on the latter. Someone still has to handle the actual

conversation and objection at the moment of purchase, agent-mediated

or not.

Building an AI salesperson for independent stores myself, so this one

hit close to home. "Smec" indeed. 😄
