Silly season coming up for a silly man. Having not been to many events in London over the last few years, I am thrilled to be back there a few times in the month of September. This year parrtnering with the team IMRG ... Every retail conference this year has a session on AI. Very few have a retailer willing to say what it actually did to their numbers. That’s the reason I’m going to Growth Summit on 23 September.
The interesting question isn’t whether AI is changing how people discover and buy things that argument is over. It’s what a merchant is supposed to do about it on a Tuesday morning with a finite budget and a feed that’s already three integrations deep.
How has the basket changed?
Has it at all?
Where are all the customers gone and are they still resilient?
No mention of the World Cup (by request).
IMRG’s benchmark data is one of the few places you get an honest read on that in the UK. Put it in a room with the retailers actually living it and you get a proper conversation rather than a keynote. Andy Mulcahy has been doing this for a long time, sharing knowledge drops weekly. It is a superb resource. Give him a follow if you don’t already,

Free for eligible retailers.
If you’re coming what’s the one question you’d want answered from the stage? I’ll do my best to get it asked. And I can be swayed with a beer in the evening time. Time proven tactic.

Getting straight to the practical ROI of AI rather than just high-level keynotes is exactly what the industry needs right now, Vinny! Looking forward to hearing how merchants are actually handling budget allocations amidst all this tech integration. Have a fantastic time at ExCeL London! 🍻
