A Struggle Bus podcast episode helped someone win a job last week. I only found out because they told me. A message landed in my inbox from a past guest of The Struggle Bus:
“I’m interviewing with a brand that is founder-led and really cares about culture and getting to know their leaders for who they are. They said a lot of interesting things that they liked about me that I was trying to figure out how they knew... I’m pretty sure they looked me up on Google and your video is the first thing that popped up.”
That’s the whole reason this show exists.
Not the download numbers. Not the algorithm. The idea that if you sit someone down and let them tell the real story the struggle, not the highlight reel the internet ends up holding a truer version of who they are than any CV ever could.
So here’s the news: The Struggle Bus is back for Season 3. Part deux..
First up: Anna Brightman, co-founder of UpCircle Beauty the brand that looked at the mountain of coffee grounds cafes throw out every day and thought, that’s not waste, that’s a skincare range. What started as salvaged grounds from local coffee shops became a signature scrub line that customers latched onto almost immediately. The clip below is a taste of that origin story. The full episode is the how and the parts that nearly didn’t work.
This episode ir brought to you specially by ParcelPlanet - a longer convo because it needed to be. Anna’s chats with me always left me feeling happier. A genuine, warm, ambitious and exceptionally smart leader. Thank you Anna.
New episodes landing soon. Founders, operators, and the stories behind the stories told properly, struggles included.
Who’s a founder you’d want to hear tell the unvarnished version? Drop them below. The guest list isn’t finished yet. All of this leads to Camp Tralee.
